Deve ser dissolvida em um caldo quente antes de ser incorporada a uma receita. \u00c9 ingrediente essencial para acentuar o sabor e dar cor a muitos pratos da cozinha indiana, principalmente, o arroz.<br>Seu nome prov\u00e9m do s\u00e2nscrito cuncuma, atrav\u00e9s do \u00e1rabe curcum, ou do hebraico carcom. A palavra turm\u00e9rico, por sua vez, tem seu primeiro registro no s\u00e9culo XVI, oriunda do latim, terra meritare, ou &#8220;m\u00e9rito da terra&#8221; (de acordo com o livro Plantas de A-Z, de Paula Negraes, editado por BEI Comunica\u00e7\u00f5es).<br>T\u00eam sido estudados os poss\u00edveis benef\u00edcios do consumo da c\u00farcuma para preven\u00e7\u00e3o e tratamento do mal de Alzheimer. Suspeita-se que seja mais eficaz se associado \u00e0 vitamina D3. A vitamina D pode ser obtida pelo organismo tanto ap\u00f3s exposi\u00e7\u00e3o ao sol quanto por suplementos de vitamina D3, ou por uma combina\u00e7\u00e3o de ambos.<br>Os benef\u00edcios do a\u00e7afr\u00e3o-da-terra seriam decorrentes da a\u00e7\u00e3o anti-inflamat\u00f3ria e antioxidante, pela remo\u00e7\u00e3o das placas no c\u00e9rebro, caracter\u00edsticas do mal de Alzheimer.
