Dia 11 de junho foi estabelecido como o Dia Verde de Gana, criado para restaurar florestas e combater desertifica\u00e7\u00e3o do pa\u00eds<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Numa a\u00e7\u00e3o in\u00e9dita pelo reflorestamento, Gana anunciou que pretende plantar cinco milh\u00f5es de \u00e1rvores em diferentes partes do pa\u00eds em um \u00fanico dia: 11 de junho de 2021, declarado como o Dia Verde de Gana. De acordo com o governo, este mega plantio deve se transformar em um evento anual pela restaura\u00e7\u00e3o das florestas e combate \u00e0 assustadora desertifica\u00e7\u00e3o do pa\u00eds.
\u201cEstamos totalmente preparados para tornar Gana mais verde e n\u00e3o vamos descansar at\u00e9 que plantemos cada pequena planta cultivada ou doada por indiv\u00edduos e organiza\u00e7\u00f5es para esta campanha\u201d, declarou Owuso-Bio, presidente do Comit\u00ea de Planejamento do Projeto Verde de Gana.
Segundo o ministro de Terras e Recursos Naturais, Samuel Abu Jinapor, um dos respons\u00e1veis pelo projeto, Gana tinha 8,2 milh\u00f5es de hectares de florestas em 1900 e hoje esta \u00e1rea foi reduzida a 1,6 milh\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Algumas das principais amea\u00e7as \u00e0s florestas do pa\u00eds s\u00e3o a extra\u00e7\u00e3o ilegal de madeira, a minera\u00e7\u00e3o ilegal em \u00e1reas florestais, a agricultura e a baixa pluviosidade relacionada com as altera\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas.
O presidente de Gana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo vai plantar uma \u00e1rvore memorial na sede do governo na capital, a cidade de Acra. ONGs, igrejas e outras organiza\u00e7\u00f5es tamb\u00e9m declaram apoio \u00e0 campanha e v\u00e3o realizar o plantio de mudas em todo o pa\u00eds.
A Comiss\u00e3o Florestal de Gana vai participar com o fornecimento de mudas para as 16 regi\u00f5es do territ\u00f3rio nacional. Cerca de 1,2 milh\u00e3o de estudantes da rede p\u00fablica v\u00e3o plantar \u00e1rvores hoje, al\u00e9m de ONGs e organiza\u00e7\u00f5es religiosas.
A Confer\u00eancia Episcopal de Gana declarou que vai plantar 1 milh\u00e3o de \u00e1rvores em 2021, em apoio \u00e0 campanha nacional e em resposta a \u201cLaudato si’\u201d, a Enc\u00edclica do Papa Francisco sobre os cuidados com a casa comum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
