Recentemente, cientistas do Rush University Medical Center em Chicago conduziram uma pesquisa para investigar a rela\u00e7\u00e3o entre os n\u00edveis de atividade cognitiva e a idade do aparecimento da dem\u00eancia de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uol.com.br\/vivabem\/noticias\/redacao\/2018\/10\/09\/alzheimer-entenda-como-doenca-prejudica-o-cerebro-e-quais-seus-sintomas.htm\"><strong>Alzheimer<\/strong><\/a> considerando alguns outros fatores. Os resultados foram <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/n.neurology.org\/content\/early\/2021\/07\/14\/WNL.0000000000012388\">publicados<\/a><\/strong> no peri\u00f3dico cient\u00edfico Neurology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Como o estudo foi feito<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Os pesquisadores examinaram dados de 1.903 pessoas com idade m\u00e9dia de 79,7 anos inscritas no Rush Memory and Aging Project, um estudo longitudinal sobre envelhecimento e dem\u00eancia;<\/li><li>Nenhum dos participantes tinha diagn\u00f3stico de dem\u00eancia no in\u00edcio do estudo;<\/li><li>Ap\u00f3s a inscri\u00e7\u00e3o, os participantes responderam a sete quest\u00f5es para avaliar seus n\u00edveis de atividade cognitiva, como quanto tempo eles passavam lendo por dia, com que frequ\u00eancia escreviam cartas e se jogavam cartas, damas e quebra-cabe\u00e7as;<\/li><li>A equipe tamb\u00e9m coletou informa\u00e7\u00f5es sobre atividades cognitivas no in\u00edcio da vida e sobre o sentimento de solid\u00e3o de cada um;<\/li><li>Todos concordaram com avalia\u00e7\u00f5es cl\u00ednicas anuais, incluindo avalia\u00e7\u00e3o do hist\u00f3rico m\u00e9dico, exame neurol\u00f3gico e um conjunto de 19 testes cognitivos, bem como uma aut\u00f3psia cerebral ap\u00f3s a morte e participa\u00e7\u00e3o em atividades sociais, incluindo visitas a amigos ou parentes.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Resultados<br><\/span><\/strong>A equipe os acompanhou por uma m\u00e9dia de quase 7 anos. Ao todo, os pesquisadores autopsiaram 695 c\u00e9rebros de participantes ap\u00f3s a morte. Ao final do estudo, 457 participantes desenvolveram Alzheimer. Eles tendiam a ser mais velhos no in\u00edcio do estudo e tinham um pouco menos de escolaridade do que os outros participantes.<br>Aqueles com os n\u00edveis mais altos de atividade cognitiva na velhice desenvolveram a doen\u00e7a em uma idade m\u00e9dia de 93,6 anos.
