Isso porque as c\u00e9lulas B vivem pouco tempo antes de morrer e s\u00e3o convertidas em c\u00e9lulas B de mem\u00f3ria de longa dura\u00e7\u00e3o (MBC), que seu sistema imunol\u00f3gico usa como uma esp\u00e9cie de registro de infec\u00e7\u00f5es anteriores.<br>Ent\u00e3o, se uma c\u00e9lula B morrer antes de se tornar um MBC, ela ser\u00e1 substitu\u00edda por uma nova. Pacientes em tratamento para esclerose m\u00faltipla tiveram seus estoques de MBC esgotados, momento em que seu corpo come\u00e7ou a produzir novas c\u00e9lulas B rapidamente.<br>Al\u00e9m disso, a equipe identificou os horm\u00f4nios espec\u00edficos que interromperam a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de c\u00e9lulas B novamente, uma vez que os estoques foram repostos, e percebeu que a desativa\u00e7\u00e3o do horm\u00f4nio resulta na produ\u00e7\u00e3o de c\u00e9lulas B extras \u00e0 esquerda e \u00e0 direita.
