Mais de 10 mil filhotes de tartaruga foram para o mar em Bali, no dia 7 de agosto. Conservacionistas t\u00eam trabalhado na ilha para tentar aumentar a popula\u00e7\u00e3o das esp\u00e9cies amea\u00e7adas de extin\u00e7\u00e3o e promover a prote\u00e7\u00e3o ambiental. Grupos de ambientalistas carregaram caixotes cheios de filhotes de tartaruga at\u00e9 a praia de Gianyar e envolveram a comunidade local e volunt\u00e1rios na a\u00e7\u00e3o de soltura das pequenas tartarugas.
Os filhotes correram para a \u00e1gua. \u201c\u00c9 maravilhoso ver todas estas tartarugas entrando no mar\u201d, comemorou J\u00e9ssica Liebrman, uma das volunt\u00e1rias. As tartarugas-oliva est\u00e3o entre as mais abundantes do oceano, mas ainda s\u00e3o consideradas uma esp\u00e9cie em perigo, pois fazem a sua desova em locais muito espec\u00edficos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Um animal adulto pesa entre 34 e 50 quilos e pode chegar a 70 cent\u00edmetros. O conservacionista Flavianus Erwin explica que os ovos est\u00e3o aparecendo em menos locais, ent\u00e3o o trabalho para proteger estas \u00e1reas precisou ser intensificado. \u201cConseguimos coletar e salvar estes filhotes. Espero que encontremos mais ovos e possamos v\u00ea-los eclodirem, para que mais e mais tartaruguinhas cheguem ao mar novamente\u201d, conta Flavianus.
Em julho, 25 tartarugas-verdes-gigantes foram devolvidas ao mar em Bali, depois de uma opera\u00e7\u00e3o de combate \u00e0 ca\u00e7a ilegal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A popula\u00e7\u00e3o de tartarugas marinhas tem diminu\u00eddo ano a ano pela ca\u00e7a, perda de \u00e1reas de desova e pela presen\u00e7a de redes e petrechos de pesca.
O chefe do Centro de Conserva\u00e7\u00e3o e Recursos Naturais de Bali, Agus Budi Santoso, recomendou a cria\u00e7\u00e3o de uma \u00e1rea verde de prote\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0s tartarugas em algumas praias da ilha para que elas possam desovar longe de turistas e constru\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
